Flos Brass Captain Flint Floor Lamp

Michael Anastassiades’ elegant, finely balanced design incorporates dual lighting options. The conical brass shade rests delicately on a rotating rod, converting from an uplight to a reading light with a simple swivel. The design is anchored by a stunning white Carrara marble base. Trained in industrial design and engineering at London's Royal College of Art and Imperial College, Michael Anastassiades launched his London design studio in 1994. He has collaborated with many respected design firms and architects, including Studio Mumbai, David Chipperfield, and John Pawson, and his distinctive lighting designs grace spaces from Stockholm to New York. Anastassiades is known for selecting reflective materials like mirrored glass and polished bronze that interact with the space surrounding his lights, appearing to dematerialize them. His work has been included in six of the Museum’s exhibitions, including Safe: Design Takes on Risk (2005-06), Design and the Elastic Mind (2008), and A Collection of Ideas (2014-15).
